Peters and colleagues from Royal Oak, Michigan surveyed the English literature and found no articles on the relationship of IC and a history of abuse.

Studying Regenerated Neo-Bladder To Help Spinal Cord Injury Patients

Urologists at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital are studying whether a neo-bladder construct grown from a patient’s own cells can improve bladder function for adult spinal cord injury patients.Jefferson is only one of six sites in the U.S. enrolling participants in this clinical trial for the lab-grown neo-bladder construct that will involve a total of 10 patients.”It’s never been done in adults before,” said primary investigator Patrick Shenot, M.D.

Increased Risk Of Death Following Painful Condition Affecting Kidney Failure Patients

A painful and debilitating condition that affects patients with kidney failure may be more common than previously believed and appears to be strongly associated with prior exposure to certain contrast agents used in imaging studies. In addition, individuals with this syndrome — called nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) — appear to have a significantly increased risk of dying.

European Committee Issues Positive Opinion On Wyeth’s TORISEL For Advanced Renal Cell Carcinoma

Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a division of Wyeth (NYSE:WYE), announced that it has received a positive opinion from the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Evaluation Agency (EMEA) for the approval of TORISEL? (temsirolimus) as a first-line therapy for patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) who have at least three of six prognostic risk factors.

Laparoscopic Radical Cystectomy For Cancer: Oncological Outcomes At Up To 5 Years

UroToday.com- This article published in the British Journal of Urology International by Georges-Pascal and Gill detail the oncologic findings and short-term recovery from laparoscopic radical cystectomy for clinically organ confined bladder cancer. The authors evaluated 37 patients who underwent laparoscopic radical cystectomy from 1999 to 2005. There was equal distribution of patients receiving a neobladder and an ileal conduit.
