Palatin Technologies, Inc. (Amex: PTN) announced positive results from an at home Phase 2 trial evaluating bremelanotide for the treatment of female sexual arousal disorder (FSAD). The objective of this exploratory study was to identify potential efficacy endpoints for future studies and to evaluate the safety of intranasal (IN) bremelanotide, relative to placebo and under the conditions of home use, for the treatment of FSAD in pre and postmenopausal women.

A new UK survey released indicates that stress and health problems are affecting the nation’s sexual relationships and people are avoiding discussing these ‘taboo’ problems1, potentially putting their long-term health at risk. These findings coincide with a series of ‘Sex, Health and Relationship Roadshow’ meetings (see below) organised for Primary Care Practitioners (PCPs) to discuss intimate health problems and tackle the issues raised by this survey.

The Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA) announced they will conduct a national survey to study physicians’ attitudes, knowledge and beliefs about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) patients’ unique health care needs. The AMA is supporting this effort with a $100,000 grant to GLMA. The survey, of a random sample of U.S. physicians and a survey of LGBT-identified physicians, will be fielded in early 2008.
